Do Not Miss 'Steel Magnolias'
Written by Robin Pena
Sunday, 12 October 2008

Melbourne High School has done it again!

I had the opportunity to see their production of 'Steel Magnolias' on Saturday evening, October 11th.  It is one of my favorite shows - EVER - and I have seen it done in community theatres 4 times.  This production was every bit a good as any I have ever seen.

Review - The Moon is Blue
Written by Lisa Farrall
Monday, 29 September 2008
I want to say "Happy Anniversary" to Surfside Players on their 50th season.  I am glad to have been a part of the theater's history. On 26 September, I saw "The Moon is Blue" by F. Hugh Herbert which was Surfside's first show in 1959. It was a great idea to re-do that show.  Troy Jones directed a small cast: Molly Nystrom-Reddington (Patty O'Neill), James Salmon (Donald Gresham), Gordon Ringer (David Slater), and Gaylon Parker (Michael O'Neill).

Review - Opera Comique
Written by Lisa Farrall
Tuesday, 12 August 2008

How refreshing to see a show in Brevard County that I had not seen performed here before; I saw Nagle Jackson's "Opera Comique" at the Henegar Center on 10 August. Joanne Mitchell directed the play and did a great job of casting it.   "Opera Comique's" a light comedy which takes place in Paris in the year 1875.

SCT Theatre Calendar - Update
Written by Ramona B
Monday, 28 July 2008

Hi Everyone - I've gone through each of the theatre sites for the upcoming year's plays (except high schools, which aren't set yet), and added them to the Theatre Calendar (up through June 2009). The Theatre Company (Palm Bay) had a few listed as potential plays, so I added a "Check Back" entry for those. If anyone has more info on their plays (The Theatre Company), or if you see any errors on the calendar, please let me know. Thanks.

A Bit Flamin' Sketchy - Soooo Funny!
Written by Ramona B
Monday, 28 July 2008

Saturday night's fundraiser for the Palm Bay fire victims was GREAT!

I'd like to congratulate all the performers and the production staff that created this hilarious show for doing a fantastic job!  I was laughing so hard all evening!  It's hard to believe that such a production was "thrown together" so quickly in response to the Palm Bay fires.  Everyone kept the show moving along and even the inevitable glitches were turned into uproarious impromptu bits by the quick-witted cast members.

"Les Miserables" at MERRITT ISLAND HIGH SCHOOL, North/Central SFA
Written by Michael Paul
Saturday, 12 July 2008
I caught the Thursday night performance of the Summer of Fine Arts North/Central production of "Les Miserables" at MERRITT ISLAND HIGH SCHOOL, and, in a word, AMAZING!!! If I didn't have to go out of town this weekend, I would have definitely caught another one of the shows. It was what a theater experience is supposed to be- uplifting, exhilarating, thought provoking, and, ultimately, moving.

Review of Les Miserables - North side SFA production
Written by Kelsie Curry
Saturday, 12 July 2008

Les Miserables, 07/11/08 performance

Les Miserables is a theater classic, an extremely bold show to take on with a cast of High School students and graduates. I had my doubts going into the performance, however after seeing this show all my doubts were gone. The cast and crew of the Summer Fine Arts production of Les Miserables were completely outstanding; from the opening scene to the final bows, the show was spectacular.

Summer Fine Arts - Brevard County
Written by Deborah Rappa-Crisafulli
Sunday, 06 July 2008

Hello Friends,

I'm not sure who will read this information, but I thought it would be great if the SpaceCoastTheatre.com readers knew about "two" upcoming Summer Fine Arts productions about to hit the stage, July 10-12. This is my first summer not working with this fine program.

I know there are some very-very talented staff members working on the two productions. I'm sure they would love to be recognized for their hard work over the past 6 weeks!! I am only familiar with some of the south end folks this year: Crazy For You, SFA south end Director, Ms. Sarah Munday, and Tech-Director, Mr. Frank DeGroodt...both instructors at EGHS. Choreographer Miss Heather McFarland from Surfside Players, Music Director, Ms. Kimberly Dickman...from Creel Elementary, and years of community theater involvement. North end, Les Miserables, I hear has a wonderful staff. The only person I know is Director, Mr. Kevin Buck, instructor at Cocoa Bch. Jr./Sr. High. Maybe some dialog can kick up from the folks involved with these terrific shows. Let the community know who's "behind-the-scenes" making magic.

Performance Stats:

Les Miserables: July 10 & 11 at 7:30 PM, July 12 at 2 PM. Merritt Island High School's Performing Arts Center. Tix's are $8-$10. 454-1000 ext. 377.

Crazy For You: July 10 & 11 at 7 PM, July 12 at 2 PM. Eau Gallie High School's Performing Arts Center. Tix's are $8-$10. 253-5084.

GOOD LUCK to all north and south end staff and cast members!!

Deborah Crisafulli
